The Redwood Neighborhood Association's First Annual Dragonfly Festival is slated from 12-3 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at the Lowell Felder Memorial Park Pavilion in downtown Redwood behind Felder's Convenience Store.
The Dragonfly Festival celebrates the beginning of summer. The dragonflies' emergence is also a time when the biting black flies subside. Both the start of summer and the demise of the black fly are reasons to celebrate!
Activities for the afternoon include:
- A dragonfly costume contest for children (kids can come dressed up or make their costumes on-site!)
- Open mic for musicians and singers
- Burgers, pulled pork, and sides for sale (burgers are donated by the Redwood Tavern with sales benefiting the Redwood Neighborhood Association)
- Socialization with friends and neighbors after a brutal winter
- Dave Russell playing guitar—and other surprise guests!
- Vendors: Dragonfly Pottery, Indian River Lakes Conservancy, Better Farm, betterArts (with an arts 'n' crafts table for kids)
- Bocce ball matches
- ...and more !
